What the work involves
Loose stone is taken out, the bed is cleaned, and the stone is reset in fresh mortar so it carries load again. A leaning or bowing wall comes down in sections and goes back up, which on a retaining wall usually means fixing the drainage behind it at the same time, because water pressure is what pushed it over. Steps, stoops and porch piers are the most common stone repair on a Delaware County house, and they are also the ones most often patched cosmetically and left to fail again.
